Near exit 770 on Highway 5, 20080716we2123

Location. We're about 4 miles north of Grenada as I begin typing this
update.

Photography. Starting in Eugene today, and continuing tonight, I've
been going through the photos from the past few days. These live feed
journal photos are taken with my iPhone and uploaded from the road. As
a two megapixel camera, with a fixed lense, the iPhone does an okay
job with snapshots. However, I've also been taking photos with my Sony
10 megapixel camera over these past few days and just haven't had a
chance to post them due to the lack of high speed Internet access.
Tonight, I hope to post them. When they are available, I'll mention it
here. The photo included with this journal entry is of me sorting
through photos on my Apple notebook computer.

Thanks. I want to thank everyone who has been coming to visit this
photo journal during the tour. It's nice being watched over. I've met
some people during the tour who have been folllowing our journey. It's
kind of neat to meet someone who has been watching your life, but
you've never even met them before. So, I'm grateful to everyone near
and far who are checking-in on our progress.

It's now 9:42 PM. I've been poking away at my tiny iPhone keyboard for
about 20 minutes. Jay tells me that we're about 10 minutes away from
our overnight destination, so I'm going to sign-off for now. If
there's wireless Internet access where we stay, I'll try to post the
high resolution photos from the past few days.

Morning Glory Cafe, Eugene, OR, 20080716we1127

We arrived in Eugene shortly after 11:00 AM, and went to the Owen Rose Garden at 300 N. Jefferson Street -- just to take a look at the venue for the afternoon open house. The location is really beautiful, and offers plenty of room.

We then went in search of some parking close to restaurants. We found four open parking spots. I got out of the truck and saw, what appeared to be an avid bicyclist, vegan, and alternative housing enthusiast like myself. I was right on all three counts. She knew exactly where to find a vegan restaurant, and went on to tell us about her experiences living in domes and other tiny dwellings. She told us about living in a dome home that could be pulled on a bicycle trailer, and she told us about Maitreya EcoVillage. We walked a few blocks and she pointed us to Morning Glory Cafe.

Update: At 11:53, we're leaving the cafe and going back to the Owen Rose Garden.

I woke at about 5:00 AM, but decided to get more sleep, since I only
had about 12 hours of sleep since Saturday. We need to get on the road
by 8:00 AM so I'll need to skip running this morning.

Between now and 8:00 AM, I'll take some time to do my daily Yoga/
stretching and meditation routine and get ready to go.
